The IGS North-South Summer School (approx. 10 days, worth 5 ECTS) is an intercultural learning event and exchange platform for an interdisciplinary group of PhD candidates and senior researchers/instructors from the global South and North. The course, held annually, involves conceptual, thematic, and methodological sessions, as well as field excursions and communication courses (scientific writing and communication with the public).
Every year, the Summer School takes place in a different part of the world, hosted by the relevant partner research institutions of the IGS North-South. The past courses have been held in Switzerland, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Bolivia and Nepal.
Course costs must partly be covered by the PhD project budget. Talk to your supervisor and project leader for advice in this respect.
