Admission & Certificate

Membership of the IGS North-South is free of charge and you may apply at any time of the year. To gain admission, potential candidates must have been accepted by an eligible professor and be enrolled at one of the participating universities in Switzerland or at an accredited external research institution partnering with the IGS North-South. Funding is not provided by the IGS North-South and is the candidate’s responsibility. The IGS North-South offers full and associate membership.

Funding

Since the IGS North-South offers a supplementary certificate, the School does not provide funding for PhD research or salaries. To gain admission to the IGS North-South, the PhD applicant must be accepted by an eligible professor and enrolled at one of the participating universities in Switzerland or at an accredited external research institution partnering with the IGS North-South. Potential applicants have either already started their PhD projects or are just about to begin.
Most courses of the IGS North-South are free of charge, except for the annual Summer School.
